Flameworked Rose Sculpture

Spring 2016

Jerry Ward demonstrates techniques he has developed for creating realistic looking long-stemmed roses. Three colors are gathered to fashion the stem and thorns, and the petals are made by blowing colored glass bubbles that are cut in half with shears. Green glass is used for the sepal under the rose bloom. This article was originally published on page 40 in the Spring 2016 issue of The Flow.
